I’m Sanny Ntayombya—a writer, podcaster, communications expert, and aspiring farmer with a rich and diverse journey spanning continents and industries. Born in Uganda in 1980 to a Rwandan refugee father and a Ugandan mother, my early years were shaped by resilience and adaptability. I was raised in Canada before returning to a post-Genocide Rwanda in 1994, where I witnessed the transformative power of rebuilding a nation.

After completing high school in Uganda, I earned a law degree from the National University of Rwanda in 2009. My career began at The New Times, where I quickly advanced to Features Editor, crafting stories that resonated deeply with audiences. I later broadened my expertise with roles in public and private sectors, including stints at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Tigo Rwanda, and the Rwanda Development Board (RDB). While at RDB, I worked on globally impactful initiatives such as bringing the Visit Rwanda brand to life in partnership with Arsenal FC.

In 2013, I pursued a master’s degree in International Communications at the Communication University of China, sharpening my ability to tell stories that bridge cultures. This led to the founding of Affinity Media in 2020, a boutique communications and marketing agency.

In 2023, I launched The Long Form podcast, a platform dedicated to showcasing African excellence and challenging the narratives of Afro-pessimism that persist in global media. Beyond podcasting, I’ve shared insights on platforms like CNBC Africa and the Rwanda Broadcasting Agency, written for Al Jazeera and Radio Netherlands Worldwide, and been quoted in The New York Times. My voice also reached audiences as the host of Rock City, a hit rock-and-roll radio show on Contact FM, and continues to do so through my weekly column in The New Times.

When I’m not immersed in storytelling or strategy, I enjoy farming, exploring global issues, and connecting with people from all walks of life. Above all, I’m a family man, devoted to my wife and children, and deeply committed to the Rwandan values of integrity and purpose.
